Chicken Shawarma Panini

 

Ingredients For Chicken:

  • Boneless skinless chicken breast (1 1/2 pounds)
  • Ground Cumin (2 Teaspoons)
  • Paprika (2 Teaspoons)
  • Allspice (1 Teaspoon)
  • Turmeric (3/4 Teaspoon)
  • Garlic Powder (3/4 Teaspoon)
  • Cinnamon (1/4 Teaspoon)
  • Salt and Pepper (1/4 Teaspoon each)
  • Olive Oil (2 Tablespoons) (For Cooking)
  • Pita Bread (6)

Ingredients For Garlic Spread:

  • Fresh Garlic (1 whole head)
  • Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Lemon Juice (1 Teaspoon)
  • Olive Oil (1 Tablespoon)

Directions:

  1. Cut up boneless skinless chicken breast to any shape. Just make sure they are in uniform sizes so they cook evenly.
  2. Place the chicken in a big bowl and add all of the ingredients. Ground cumin, paprika, allspice, turmeric, garlic powder, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Combine evenly.
  3. Once everything is combined, sauté the chicken on the stove.
  4. In a medium non stick pan, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and cook the chicken for about 5 minutes or until chicken is cooked, depending on how small or big you’ve cut it.
  5. While the chicken is cooking, make the garlic spread.
  6. In a food processor, add all of the ingredients. Garlic, salt, lemon juice and olive oil. Mix, then pour in a small bowl.
  7. Take two pita breads and spread the garlic on both sides, then add the chicken.
  8. Polish the pita bread with olive oil on both sides and place it in the panini machine. If you do no have a panini machine, you can easily make it on the stove in a non stick skillet.
  9. Cut in 4’s.
